As an independently owned business, we have the freedom to support causes we believe in and to impact the world in a positive way. Giving back is important to us and we want to share this passion with you.
Why an Alpaca? It's just a very simple and humble thought - we love alpacas and we want to protect what we love and make sure they are well treated. After all, we're inspired by alpacas to take the leap of faith and started this online store. We honestly hope to be able to give back to alpacas and alpaca farmers be it financial support or raising awareness about alpacas.
The mission of Cross Creek Alpaca Rescue, Inc. is to foster compassion and responsibility for Alpacas and other animals through rescue, intervention, education and outreach. They continue helping the North American alpaca industry grow and improve by promoting the value of non breeding alpacas for their fiber. They are a non-profit volunteer organization dedicated to the rescue, foster care and placement of alpacas in need.
According to Creek Cross Alpaca Rescue, the alpaca industry has grown steadily with estimates totally over 120,000 registered alpacas with the Alpaca Registry, Inc (ARI) in the US. Due to the small size of the national herd, the alpaca industry is a breeder’s market. This has led to the discarding of non-breeding alpacas due to age, deformity, illness and poor breeding practices. In recent years, many intelligent alpacas have been discarded as of no worth, due mainly to the lack of human understanding. Because of the influx of alpacas, there have been increases in neglect, abused and abandoned animals. The well-being of the alpaca is put into jeopardy.
Alpaca is not common in Asia and there is limited information we can access to. We're still learning about alpacas online everyday from alpaca farmers who generously shared photos, videos, and knowledges about alpacas with us. If you love alpacas and are like minded people, we would like to invite you to join us in protecting what we love together and do our part to improve the planet and support all living things live on it.
P/s: All tips given to us will be 100% donated to Cross Creek Alpaca Rescue too. You may also make direct donation to Cross Creek Alpaca Rescue here.
